Career

Institute for Systems Biology Machine Learning Summer Intern
June 2025 – Aug. 2025

Implemented machine learning algorithms such as Neural Nets, Naive Bayes, and Random Forest in Python to classify trials from clinicaltrials.gov into trustworthy or untrustworthy. Mentored by Dr. Glusman (Hood Lab) via NIH NCATS Biomedical Translator Consortium. Used Unix command line, SQL, and Git for version control. Performed dimension reduction including PCA and UMAP.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Associate Scientist
Nov. 2023 - July 2024

Performed quality control and data validation using analytical instruments in the Cell and Genetic Therapies Department to ensure a novel Type 1 Diabetes device operates properly. Utilized Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to track QC data, followed SOPs and GMP to maintain compliance. Led a lab optimization project, presenting findings and recommendations to management for improved efficiency and safety.

STATCOM (Statistics in the Community) Consulting Volunteer
Sept. 2024 – Present

Collaborating with the Center for Success nonprofit on statistical analysis using natural language processing (NLP) and Likert scale analysis to assess student literacy program impact. Focused on making code reproducible with my group of 4 using GitHub. Used R for data visualization, data wrangling, and analysis to present to nonprofit directors.

National Science Foundation & Pacific Lutheran University Polymer Researcher
June 2021 – May 2023

Collaborated with a team of 5 researchers in Dr. Waldow's group to develop a solid polymer electrolyte to improve the safety and sustainability of Lithium-ion batteries. Presented results at the National American Chemical Society conference in Indianapolis in a selective Sci-Mixer poster event recognizing exceptional abstracts, and also gave a 30-minute oral presentation.

Teaching Experience

Passionate about helping students discover and grow

I have experience teaching undergraduate students in statistics and biology, designing coursework, leading discussions, and helping students build a strong scientific foundations.

  • Head Statistics Graduate Student Instructor (Aug. 2024 – May 2026)

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.
Teach discussion sections for 40 students taking Introduction to Statistics for Social Sciences to guide them in building a foundation in statistical concepts and data interpretation. Prepare biweekly lecture review, design weekly practice problems, hold office hours, and provide HW and exam feedback to enrich students learning. Completed SOC 993: Teacher Training Course, gaining skills in pedagogy & curriculum planning. Promoted to Head Instructor role September 2025

  • Adjunct Professor of Biology (Jan. 2024 – May 2024)

    Bryant University, Smithfield, RI.
Guided students through collaborative laboratory experiments that introduce life processes. Prepared and graded assignments to provide constructive feedback to students. Topics include scientific methodology, cells, energy and metabolism, genetics, and ecology.

  • Multivariable Calculus Grading Assistant (Sept. 2019 – Dec. 2022)

Mathematics Department, Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA
Responsible for collecting, grading, and providing accurate feedback on biweekly homework assignments for ~20 students. Collaborated with professors and adjusted for special course demands due to virtual classes.

  • Precalculus Supplemental Instruction Leader / Tutor (Sept. 2019 – Dec. 2022)

Mathematics Department, Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA
Planned and facilitated virtual, peer-assisted study sessions for precalculus students. Attended all regularly scheduled class meetings and conducted ~3 one-hour sessions weekly.

  • Teaching Assistant: Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry II (Sept. 2020 – May 2021)

Chemistry Department, Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA
Facilitated laboratory classes to assist students’ learning and maintain a safe lab environment. Developed and led weekly tutoring sessions to improve students’ understanding.

  • Tutor: AVID (Sept. 2018 – March 2020)
